Born out of a genuine burden for families who are fighting to survive — and a belief that they deserve real, lasting support.
Solid Ground Community Services was born out of a simple but powerful conviction: that families in crisis deserve more than temporary relief. They deserve a path — a real, structured, dignified path — toward stability, healing, and long-term independence.
We are based in Lake County, Illinois, and we serve the families right here in our own backyard who are quietly struggling behind closed doors. Single parents working two jobs who still can't make ends meet. Parents in recovery trying to hold their families together. Children who carry the weight of adult-sized problems to school every morning.
Solid Ground exists because we believe those families are worth fighting for — not just with programs, but with presence, accountability, and genuine care.

For most families, the back-to-school season is exciting. For families in crisis, it can feel like an impossible mountain. New supplies, new clothes, new needs — and not enough to cover them.
Back to School on Solid Ground was created to change that. This is our very first community initiative — and we want to do it right.
Our goal is simple: send 50 children into the new school year feeling equipped, confident, and cared for. Every child served is a statement that this community sees them — and believes in them.
